Back in the saddle!

Getting back to completing my book. Still getting over asthma issues but I am improving and feel much better. Was able to complete a new chapter today, and also start on some proof reading.

When I first started the book, I was having hard drive issues on my computer that caused the OS to forget the driver for my keyboard, so my keyboard was constantly going on and off, so as I proof read I am finding missing words or things that don't make sense as of missing items. So I am now having to remember what I MEANT to say and what should be said. I am also working on the continuity to make sure everything is fluid to the story.

I have also obviously missed my goal of completion in the fall due to my health issues, but hoping to finish by the end of the winter. I have to remind myself and motivate myself, much like the Nike slogan of "Just Do It!"

7/27/16 Update

Hey gang,

I am in contact with a friend that is an artist for my first cover that will be for my 1st book '4:00AM', SO EXCITED!! I detailed how I want the cover done and shared my rough draft of the idea for the cover, and he said, "Wow, that's going to be creepy!" Exactly what I'm going for.

I did some updates to the website; updated my photo of my new awesome red hair, added an 'Events' page to post when I will have events or signings, removed the newsletter signup as not really needed (yet), and changed some cosmetic things to make the site prettier.

Before anyone asks, I was born with red hair that then turned brown when I was like 3 or 4 years old, so I am a natural red head from birth. I had been dying my hair black since I was 19 years old when I was trying to get better jobs and couldn't have it blue anymore. Almost 15 years of black hair, time to move on. Funny note, the red makes all my freckles look highlighted now and are undeniable.

4:00AM is still coming along, although slowly. I did get to interview a New Mexico State Trooper for some research for the book and he was extremely helpful. I think I want to have one more interview with a local Sheriff just to get all my facts straight for the book. Would hate to get angry Tweets and emails cause something is not correct factually. I also have a few other ideas for future books that I am outlining, and have also started a script for a comic book series. Having so many ideas at once can make things a bit messy because you don't know where to start. I do still have a "9 to 5" job, as they say, and it can also get in the way.

On a cool note, I did Tweet David Labrava from the show 'Sons of Anarchy' on if he had any advise for me, since he just put out a book and how he got it published. He said, "‏@realracheal Keep writing all day every day till it's done. Self publish with @amazon." So awesome to get a response back from such a cool and talented person.

5/31/16 Check In

I am on chapter 33 now and nearing the climax soon. The shit WILL hit the fan!!

I have also finally found an artist that is a friend from previous projects to do my 1st book cover. He likes the idea and says it's "scary" and it should give readers an idea of what to expect from the book.

The profession Twitter account I created did not get much traffic and I rarely used it at all as I already have a personal Twitter account that I used, soooooo I merged them together. More so, I deleted the professional account and left my personal and just transferred my website info over there, @realracheal is the Twitter account.

I have a good list of about 12 other things, books and screenplays, that I want to write after this, but I do not want to rush anything in the fear that I may not get it right. Especially on a first book, I really want to put my all into it and go all out.

Return of the Creativity

Got some more chapters written! It was taking me awhile to figure out where to go from one plot point to another, and I finally settled on an idea that should work very well. Of course, once I reread the finished book I will see how it all fits together.  From that point on though there should be smooth sailing. I have the rest of the book mapped out on how I want it to go and in the order, I just have to make and find time to write.

I am also working on a friend's website and some graphics as well so that does take up my time, but it is fun for me. I don't want to force a book, especially my first book. I want it to be fluid and compelling once it is completed, without any areas of filler. I want whomever reads my book to be intrigued and want to keep reading so I am trying to find ways to accomplish that. So many books have those chapters that you just want to finish them because they drag on, or a hyped up event never seems to arrive. I want this book to be exciting and fun and suspenseful, but especially to the characters. The reader is along for the ride, but the character is the one that has to deal with it all. Thank you to all of those that are supporting me on this venture and I hope to take you all with me!

Coming along.

Book #1 coming along nicely so far. Had to go back and edit a chapter and a half because it just wasn't right for the characters. Also, found a great tutorial online on how to format a book. So, for all of you authors and writers out there looked for a great way to format a book, click here: http://www.diybookformats.com/mswordtemplates/#/

I hope to buckle down and finish the book before the fall of this year, then will for sure be able to buy online as an eBook, then look into printed editions. Thanks to all of you helping and supporting me so far as a could NOT do this without you.
